My chief motivation as a photographer is to document emotion.

Huang Jun Shen
Huang Jun Shen has been involved in photography since late 1980s. His first camera was a Yashica. His passion for photography is probably a natural progression of his interest in drawing as a young child.
In 1991, Jun Shen was introduced to the large format cameras. He began to study the works of Paul Strand, Eugene Atget and many others. He developed a keen interest in architectural and landscape photography. Jun Shen uses a 5 x 7" field camera for his personal works. He is drawn to the perspective controls which are not found in 35mm & medium format cameras. The larger negatives also gives him the visual quality he desires. In 2006, Jun Shen started printing exclusively on hand-coated platinum-palladium paper, a 19th century photographic process. He had also briefly experimented with salt printing which is documented to be the earliest method for making prints from negatives.
In 2011, Jun Shen published his first book entitled Being Seoul.
Jun Shen is presently exploring new possibilities with digital format.
